helpwildlife.co.uk is a charity run advice website which is part of the Starlight Trust

HelpWildlife.co.uk is a charity-run site aiming to provide advice to members of the public who find wildlife casualties, help casualty finders to locate a wildlife rescue in their area, and provide advice on humane, holistic methods of wildlife management.

If you are a rescue, independent rescuer or wildlife-friendly vet, we’d love you to sign up to our directory so casualty finders can find you. There are options depending on how much ‘publicity’ you can cope with. Find out more at helpwildlife.co.uk/rescue-area. If your rescue is already listed you’ll find guidance on claiming and managing the listing here.

If you want to help directly with animal care or transporting wildlife to rescue, you can use our map to find a wildlife rescue in your area and get in touch with them to offer your help.

You can also help by:-

  • Contribute to our advice articles
If you’re involved in wildlife rescue, you could contribute an article to raise awareness about an wildlife issue. Or, if you spot any gaps in existing articles, get in touch and let us know.
  • Provide advice through our helpdesk
We need more rescuers to help out providing individual advice to casualty finders in need of support. This is done via an android or iphone app.
  • Help us maintain our directory
We’re always in need of volunteers to help check our listings are correct and search for missing rescues to add. Be warned – it’s not very exciting work but it is absolutely vital in helping to get casualties to rescue ASAP
  • Help us maintain/improve our website
We have no training in web design and development…to be honest we’re winging it! If you have knowledge and experience in managing (not just updating) websites, especially wordpress and cpanel, we would really appreciate your help. Anything is appreciated – one-off projects, regular maintenance….whatever you can spare.
  • Share your Ideas
If you have any other ideas about how this site can do more to help wildlife and the people who care for it, please let us know
